About The Position

This position supports the E-3 DRAGON Contract Logistics Support (CLS) and Training Systems Support Center (TSSC) contract in service to the USAF and E-3 DRAGON flight simulator program. The role involves working closely with CLS and TSSC Managers to provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) inputs and recommendations during the verification, validation, and correction of simulator discrepancies. The successful candidate will need a strong background in systems knowledge, an aptitude for connecting cause and effect relationships, and a deep understanding of the technical and operational aspects of the E-3 modified Boeing 707. As a SME, this position requires staying technically proficient and the ability to clearly communicate simulator deficiency issues in detail to software, mechanical, and aerospace engineers to isolate faults and malfunctions within the simulator design and recommend solutions. Additionally, the SME will leverage a strong instructional background to coordinate with instructors and operators, understand the nature of discrepancies and conditions within training scenarios for deeper troubleshooting, and recommend work-arounds to meet training objectives until resolutions are implemented.

Requirements

  • 6+ years previous experience as a flight engineer crew member on E-3 AWACS.
  • Previous experience as an instructor or evaluator on the DRAGON-modified aircraft.
  • 1500 or more flying hours in the E-3 modified Boeing 707 aircraft.
  • Experience as an academic platform/training device (Simulator) instructor.
  • Ability to acquire a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance and able to obtain and retain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs to enter and exit the simulator under normal and emergency conditions.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, reach, and lift comfortably within the simulator to perform functional tests and coordinate with other test members.
  • Proficient in all Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) tools and applications.
  • Through understanding of Takeoff and Landing Data (TOLD) and Weight and Balance calculations and how they affect aircraft performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) inputs and recommendations during the verification, validation, and correction of simulator discrepancies.
  • Communicate in detail simulator deficiency issues with software, mechanical, and aerospace engineers to isolate faults and malfunctions.
  • Recommend actions for solutions to simulator faults and malfunctions.
  • Coordinate with instructors and operators to understand the nature of discrepancies and conditions within training scenarios for deeper troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Understand simulator training objectives and desired outcomes to recommend possible work-arounds.
  • Conduct research and data entry functions on company software tools to update publications and databases.
  • Prepare and utilize Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) tools and applications for Takeoff and Landing Data (TOLD) and Weight and Balance calculations for simulator test and verification.
