About The Position

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking customer-oriented, motivated individuals to join their professional team as a DZ Driver. This role involves delivering and picking up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites, maintaining accurate records, performing vehicle inspections, and providing basic operational instructions to customers. Requirements

  • Currently residing in Canada and legally entitled to work.
  • Valid Class DZ driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract and commercial driving record (no more than three demerit points).
  • Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of heavy-duty construction equipment on open-deck trucks is required.
  • Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
  • Available and willing to work overtime when required and on an on-call rotation if required.
  • Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and pick up a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites. Equipment fleet includes (but is not limited to) aerial, earth moving and compaction equipment.
  • Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.
  • Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
  • Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.
  • Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed. Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
  • Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
  • Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
  • Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified. If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get customer’s signature.
  • Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
  • Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
  • Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment.
  • Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.
  • Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.
