DZ Driver - Boom Operator
About The Position
Since 1983, Vars Concrete has been one of Ottawa's leading residential concrete forming and foundation contractors. With more than 20,000 homes completed across the National Capital Region, we specialize in footings, foundation walls, garage floors, basements, and concrete forming for residential developments, custom homes, and large-scale projects. We are currently looking for a reliable and safety-conscious DZ Boom Driver/Operator to join our team. This role is critical to keeping our crews productive by delivering forming materials, foundation supplies, and equipment to active construction sites throughout the Ottawa region.
Requirements
- Valid Ontario DZ Driver's Licence.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- Experience operating a boom truck or similar equipment.
- Strong understanding of job site safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
Nice To Haves
- Construction, concrete, forming, foundation, or building materials experience is considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain a DZ-class boom truck.
- Deliver and place forming materials, foundation products, and construction equipment on residential and commercial job sites.
- Assist foundation and forming crews with material placement when required.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and complete required documentation.
- Ensure loads are properly secured and transported safely.
- Work closely with site supervisors, foremen, dispatch, and customers.
- Navigate active construction sites while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Maintain a clean and professional vehicle appearance.
- Report equipment issues and coordinate maintenance requirements.
