About The Position

Serve as district-wide dyslexia support specialist for the University of Texas-University Charter School (UT-UCS). UT-UCS serves students in kindergarten through 12th grades, follows all state and federal regulations for public school and special education services, and is part of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education. This is a one-year termed position, ending on July 31, 2027, with renewal based on performance and student enrollment. The position begins August 1, 2026, and is a 10-month State of Texas employment position, with salary spread over 12 months. Requirements

• Special Education EC-12, Core Subjects with Science of Teaching Reading EC-6, and Dyslexia training.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests.
• Maintain awareness and understanding of the role that trauma may play in the lives of our students.
• Proficiency in technology and technology applications to the level specified by the district.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• This position requires fingerprinting.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Provision of dyslexia services to students served in special education and/or Section 504.
• Monitor both direct and indirect services and supports provided to students identified with dyslexia.
• Maintain current enrollment in Amplio and provide regular reports of students identified with dyslexia.
• Administer relevant dyslexia assessments and consult with evaluation personnel, teachers, and parents to provide data for full and individual evaluations.
• Ensure timely completion of service logs and progress reports for students identified with dyslexia.
• Complete PLAAFPs, goals/objectives and accommodations for students identified with dyslexia.
• Schedule and provide parent and caregiver training on dyslexia.
• Attend all ARD and/or 504 meetings for students identified with dyslexia.
• Provide ongoing professional development about dyslexia and related disorders.
