About The Position

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the program and serving as the project review coordinator. Responsibilities include managing professional and technical engineering projects, reviewing plans for site development, and ensuring compliance with City of Atlanta ordinances. This role involves providing guidance on plats and engineering drawings, monitoring project progress, and conducting field site visits. Additionally, the coordinator reviews and assigns utility plans for water approval, tracks financial discrepancies, and communicates with various internal and external stakeholders. Overall, the position requires a strong understanding of local regulations, codes, and standards, as well as effective coordination with multiple divisions and departments to facilitate efficient project review and approval processes.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of technical terminology; extensive knowledge of construction projects - administrative or field; knowledge of engineering, water and sewage, hydrology, hydraulics, and geotechnical processes and terminology; knowledge of legal requirements and ordinances.
  • Strong Computer and Software (Microsoft) Skills; ability to utilize Microsoft suites and project management programs.  very strong administrative and managerial skills; inter-personal and team working skills; skilled in communicating verbally and written.
  • Ability to develop relationships and partnerships; ability to write clear and concise technical documents; ability to read, understand, and prepare legal documents; ability to effectively negotiate resolutions of conflicts among citizens, neighbors, elected official, and staff, as well as efficiently manage a government office open to the public; ability to interact effectively with various personality styles and with upper departmental management or elected officials; ability to read and interpret construction drawings; ability to interpret laws, regulations and guidelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible management experience in engineering, project management, or a closely related technical area.
  • Obtained specialized training in stream identification or ability to acquire within one year.
  • Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
  • Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be determined under prescribed guidelines.
  • Level II Plan Reviewer, Level II Erosion Control, Certified Plan Reviewer, Level 1B and Level II Certified Plan Reviewer, Wastewater Collect System, Operator License, Qualified Water Loss Auditor.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough review of plans and documents related to site development projects, ensuring compliance with City of Atlanta ordinances and regulations.
  • Engage in phone conferences and meetings with applicants to discuss project requirements, provide guidance, and address inquiries.
  • Perform data entry tasks and maintain organized files for efficient record-keeping and documentation management.
  • Conduct research on property locations as needed to support plan review and approval processes.
  • Manage the assignment of utility plans to water plan reviewers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Thoroughly review utility plans to assess compliance and suitability for water approval.
  • Monitor the Office of Engineering payment portal to track financial transactions and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide training and guidance to new employees joining the team, facilitating their onboarding process.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders to address inquiries, provide updates, and ensure smooth coordination.
  • Respond promptly to emails from customers, both internal and external, addressing their questions, concerns, and requests.
  • Communicate with Office of Buildings, OLIO, OCCBS, Meter Applications and Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to facilitate project review and approval processes.
  • Keep the water summary spreadsheet updated on a daily basis to maintain accurate records and track progress.
  • Utilize Accela, ATLIS, Google Maps, Excel, Word, Zoom, Microsoft Teams: Utilize a range of software tools and platforms for data analysis, document management, communication, and collaboration.
  • Review engineering drawings to assess their suitability for land disturbance activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide assistance to developers and applicants by answering questions related to City of Atlanta stormwater codes and requirements for construction projects.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with applicants to provide guidance on green infrastructure and stormwater management practices tailored to their specific project needs.
  • Participate in engineering design and review activities to ensure project feasibility and compliance with established standards.
  • Attend meetings related to plan review, project coordination, and training sessions as required.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to plan review and project management.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience for stakeholders involved in the plan review process.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
