About The Position
Western Veterinary Partners offers externship opportunities for veterinary students to gain valuable real-world experience by applying classroom knowledge in a clinical setting. Students in any grade can apply for externships during their clinical year or for informal experience. The program aims to improve veterinarians' lives, support their professional and personal growth, and provide a supportive environment. WVP hospitals are well-established practices across the US, dedicated to high medical standards and client care, offering diverse environments from AAHA-accredited to companion animal, exotics/avian, mixed animal, and feline-only practices. Requirements
- Veterinary Students in any grade can apply for an externship with a WVP Practice as part of their clinical year externship blocks or for informal externship experience.

Responsibilities
- Client communication - gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, reviewing estimates
- Ownership of cases by creating treatment plans, diagnostics, managing and performing in house labs
- Observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures including dental procedures
- Overall medical management of patients
- Practicing communication skills, time management skills, fiscal responsibilities, record keeping, and relationship building with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
