About The Position

The DME Fitter is responsible for fitting patients with prescribed orthopedic braces and other durable medical equipment. This role involves direct patient interaction, equipment management, and coordination with clinical and administrative teams to ensure proper use, documentation, and billing of DME. The role also includes selecting, ordering, delivering, and installing DME such as walkers, crutches, commodes, cold therapy units, and CPM devices. Additionally, the position requires testing and maintaining equipment, providing training on equipment use to patients and staff, managing inventory, reviewing invoices, maintaining PAR levels, running reports, and working with BO and BREG reps on unpaid claims. The DME Tech Coordinator must also complete and submit patient paperwork for billing and claims processing, maintain confidentiality, follow safety and compliance guidelines, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and maintain accurate patient records. Some roles may involve using marketing tools to support brand awareness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; Google Docs).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to drive.
  • Ability to stand, sit, climb stairs.
  • Ability to lift greater than 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, or orthopedics.
  • EHR- Athena Preferred.
  • Authorizations with insurance background preferred.
  • Knowledge of DME protocols and insurance processes.
  • Traveling to satellite clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Fit and educate patients on orthopedic braces and other DME.
  • Obtain authorization and collect payments.
  • Provide professional customer service via phone and in-person.
  • Resolve patient technical issues and ensure proper equipment usage.
  • Measure and fit patients with off-the-shelf orthopedic braces and devices.
  • Educate patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of DME.
  • Ensure comfort, safety, and effectiveness of fit devices.
  • Measure to fit custom fabricated braces.
  • Train employees.
  • Select, order, deliver, and install DME such as walkers, crutches, commodes, cold therapy units, and CPM devices.
  • Test and maintain equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Provide training on equipment use to patients and staff.
  • Manage inventory, review invoices, maintain PAR levels, and run reports.
  • Work with BO and BREG rep on unpaid claims.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.
  • Follow CDC and company guidelines for safety and compliance.

  • Generate product dispensement reports in Vision and Athena billing summary.
