About The Position

To operate the cage dump system that conveys live poultry to the hanging area, while humanely emptying any live birds from the cages and placing them on the conveyor belt. This role ensures the efficient and humane handling of poultry within the facility.

Requirements

• Constant standing, talking, vision and hearing.
• Working around equipment / machinery.
• Walking on uneven ground (drains, foot baths, etc).
• Exposure to loud noise (often above 85 decibels).
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes.
• Working at heights (over 20 feet).
• Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.
• Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility.
• Light to moderate physical effort required.
• Will use waterproof footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience in shipping and receiving, working with large equipment.
• Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
• HS Diploma or GED
• Military experience and veterans are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Operates cage-dumping system to provide adequate poultry flow without bruising or suffocation to poultry.
• Ensure belts are not overfilled.
• Move empty cages down the line for pickup by forklift operator.
• Ensures Animal Welfare policies are followed.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness and works with the team to resolve issues.
• Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
