About The Position

Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician/HET to join our Power & Energy service team, supporting Caterpillar (CAT) generator systems across a variety of customer sites and industries. This role is primarily responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting/repairs of CAT generator sets, battery energy storage systems, electrical distribution/control systems, and compressed air products. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capability, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a field based environment while representing Finning and Caterpillar to the highest standard.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Electrician Certification (Red Seal preferred)
  • HET Certification; (Apprentices will be considered) or, Willing to pursue apprenticeship
  • Electrical Safety Training – Arc Flash and Shock (CSAZ462)
  • Proven experience working on generators or power systems
  • Experience with: Generator installation and commissioning, Natural Gas & Diesel Engine systems, ATS and emergency power systems, Electrical troubleshooting in industrial environments
  • Team player capable of working with minimal supervision, in challenging conditions
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
  • You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.

Nice To Haves

  • FSRA or FSRB credential would be considered an asset
  • Power Generation experience would be considered an asset
  • Generator Rebuild experience would be considered an asset
  • Heavy Duty Mechanical experience or certification would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, service, and troubleshoot CAT generator sets (diesel and natural gas)
  • Perform electrical work on: Generator controls (EMCP/ECS platforms), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Switchgear and distribution equipment, Paralleling and load‑sharing systems, Control Systems
  • Read and interpret Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
  • Functional testing and verification
  • Load bank testing
  • Perform mechanical work on: Large Diesel and Nat. Gas engines, Air Compressors
