This position will function as both a locomotive engineer and conductor as needed. The role involves inspecting locomotives, receiving and understanding train consist information, and applying knowledge of the territory to operate the train safely. Responsibilities include signaling crew members for train movements, operating track switches, reading and understanding various railroad documentation, preparing reports, and inspecting train conditions. The role also requires diagnosing minor malfunctions, performing minor maintenance, and reporting accidents or delays. The job demands the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
