Requirements

  • The qualifications for teaching general education (or elective) transfer courses are a minimum of a master's degree within the discipline OR any master's degree with 18 graduate hours appropriate to the academic field of study or in the discipline in which the instructors will be teaching.
  • The qualifications for teaching career and technical education courses are 2,000 hours of work experience and appropriate recognizable credentials and demonstrated teaching competencies appropriate to the field of instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
  • A Doctoral degree in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Oakton Academic Divisions to ensure academic integrity.
  • Align high school course curricula with Oakton College course objectives and student learning outcomes; submit course syllabi for departmental review annually.
  • Deliver college-level instruction in your approved academic or occupational discipline at your high school of employment.
  • Contribute to program evaluation initiatives and course-level student assessment activities as needed to maintain institutional accreditation and instructional quality.
  • Verify rosters in Oakton's system to ensure accuracy regarding students enrolled and eligible for college credit.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance to submit correct midterm and final grades in Oakton's system by the deadlines for each semester.
  • Engage in collegiate professional development opportunities as necessary or directed by Oakton Academic Division Designees.
