About The Position
Ecovyst is a company with over 130 years of history, specializing in sulfur solutions including virgin sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid regeneration services, and sulfuric acid derivatives. Their products serve diverse industries such as mining (copper for electronics, electric vehicles, data centers), industrial applications (nylon precursors, lead-acid batteries, water treatment), and refining/petrochemical processes. The Ecoservices division focuses on sulfuric acid regeneration, virgin sulfuric acid production, and chemical waste handling. Calabrian produces sulfur dioxide and derivative solutions, while Chem32 focuses on sulfides and catalyst activation for refining and renewable fuels. The Certified Maintenance Technician (Dual Craft Welder/Pipefitter) for Ecoservices in Long Beach, CA is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems and structural components to ensure safe and reliable plant operations. This role supports preventive maintenance activities, field fabrication, equipment modifications, and capital projects while adhering to all safety and environmental standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Welder certification and/or 5+ years of industrial welding experience
- Pipefitter or boilermaker certification and/or 5+ years experience with pipefitting or boilermaking
- Competent in carbon steel, stainless steel and dissimilar metal SMAW (stick welding) in all positions. WPS testing required
- Competent in stainless steel, high nickel alloy and dissimilar metal GTAW (MIG & TIG welding) in all positions. WPS testing required
- Must be able to operate a computer
- Must be able to wear a full-face respirator
- Must be able to work under supplied air
- On the Job Training Required: Powered Industrial Trucks, Forklift
Responsibilities
- Perform carbon steel, stainless steel and dissimilar metal SMAW (stick welding) in all positions
- Perform stainless steel, high nickel alloy and dissimilar metal GTAW (MIG & TIG welding) in all positions
- Weld pipe and structural steel
- Proficient in threaded pipe fabrication
- Proficient in pipe fit up
- Proficient in flange assembly and torqueing
- Select appropriate materials and spans for pipe supports
- Able to operate bender and fit tubing
- Safely perform pipefitting and fit up
- Read blueprints and make rough iso sketches in field
- Must be familiar with pipe fittings and valves
- Operation of equipment necessary to complete these tasks such as forklift, man lift, drill presses, pipe threader, grinders, saws and assorted hand tools
- Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections on plant equipment
- Perform basic math
- Other duties as assigned
