The DTC Merchandise Planner plays a critical role in driving profitable growth across 5.11’s Retail and E-commerce businesses. This role transforms data, market trends, and product insights into actionable merchandise strategies that optimize sales, inventory productivity, and consumer demand. This individual will support financial and inventory planning, monitor business performance, and partner cross-functionally to align assortments, replenishment strategies, and inventory investments with company objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in merchandise planning, demand planning, or retail planning (apparel or consumer goods preferred)
  • Experience managing merchandise financial plans, including sales, margin, inventory, and open-to-buy
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, financial analysis)
  • Experience building reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar analytics tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytics or AI tools for forecasting and business analysis

Responsibilities

  • Analyze weekly business performance to identify risks and opportunities across sales, inventory, and product productivity; present insights and recommended actions to cross-functional teams
  • Monitor and manage key inventory metrics including sell-through, weeks of supply, stock-to-sales ratios, and inventory turns to maintain healthy inventory levels
  • Develop and manage merchandise financial plans, including sales, margin, inventory, and open-to-buy targets aligned to company goals
  • Partner with merchandising, omni-channel planning, and supply chain teams to plan assortments, floor sets, replenishment strategies, and product lifecycle transitions
  • Support promotional, markdown, and inventory optimization strategies to maximize sell-through and profitability
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and clearly communicate insights to influence business decisions
  • Design, build, and scale reporting frameworks, dashboards, and planning tools using Excel, Power BI, and other analytics platforms
  • Leverage advanced analytics and AI-enabled tools to improve forecasting, automate reporting, and generate actionable insights
  • Partner with data, IT, and analytics teams to enhance data infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and system integration
