About The Position

This position is responsible for providing direct support to individuals in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and adherence to personalized care plans. The DSP will create a supportive and trusting environment, protect individuals from harm, and assist them in meeting their goals. This role involves daily tasks such as meal preparation, medication administration, documentation, and maintaining the cleanliness of the home site. The DSP must remain awake and accessible in homes requiring 24/7 care and cooperate with regulatory bodies during inspections and investigations.

Requirements

Must remain awake and immediately accessible in all homes requiring 24/7 care.
Administers medications as needed.
Cooperates with Beacon Specialized Living, the Department of Human Services (DHS) staff or any other regulatory body during any inspection, investigation or inquiry.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
Set positive examples for individuals at all times.
Adhere to person-centered plans and behavior plans.
Provide opportunities for individuals to meet their goals, such as teaching groups and encouraging attendance.
Ensure quality of care and a safe, healthy setting free from harm, while upholding individual rights.
Create a space of trust and relationship with all individuals.
Protect individuals from abuse and/or neglect and report any occurrences immediately.
Maintain confidentiality of all individuals.
Follow and uphold all house guidelines.
Prepare meals according to dietary specifications, food exchanges, and documentation.
Understand food supply and storage processes.
Transport individuals and attend appointments, advocating and obtaining necessary documentation.
Utilize individual funds for budgeting assistance.
Complete required documentation before the end of shift, including progress notes, daily logs, incident reports, etc.
Assist with supervision of individuals doing laundry.
Coach and assist individuals with bedroom cleanliness.
Maintain cleanliness of the home site according to the assignment chart, ensuring it is inspection-ready at all times.
Remain awake and immediately accessible in homes requiring 24/7 care.
Administer medications as needed.
Hand off communication to the next shift staff.
Cooperate with Beacon Specialized Living, DHS staff, or any other regulatory body during inspections, investigations, or inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
