About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to providing support and care for individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. facilities, who have needs in the area of physical /medical care, behavioral support, cognitive support and independent living. The Direct Support Professional provides care according to the specific needs of the individuals. This includes but is not limited assistance and education with personal care, medication administration and independent living skills. Direct Support Professionals also help to transport/accompany individuals to activities in the community and to local or out of town appointments. Back-up DSP/DSP Dietary Cook staff: Responsible for filling in in the kitchen with meal prep as needed. Following dietary/ meal time training of meal prep, following client diet order compliance, kitchen equipment usage etc.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED from an accredited school.
Criminal Record Check.
Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule, including during inclement weather and some holidays.
A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Completion of CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management coursework.
Basic computer skills for email, electronic training modules, and data recording.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
Ability to be on feet most of the time.

Responsibilities

Providing support and care for individuals with physical/medical care, behavioral support, cognitive support, and independent living needs.
Assisting and educating individuals with personal care, medication administration, and independent living skills.
Transporting/accompanying individuals to community activities and appointments.
Filling in for kitchen duties, including meal prep, following dietary guidelines, and using kitchen equipment.
