This role is responsible for the overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals at all times. This includes maintaining house rules, facilitating learning and training in fire safety, and identifying and escalating signs of potential harm to self or others. The position provides support in various settings, adhering to individualized service and behavior support plans for individuals with moderate to complex needs. Key responsibilities include ensuring health, wellness, and safety through appropriate supervision, managing crisis situations, and implementing plans of protective oversight and Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs)/Individualized Program Plans (IPPs). The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, utilizing safe handling procedures, and implementing COVID mitigation protocols. The DSP-RBT assists individuals in maximizing their strengths, upholding personal rights, providing emotional support, and building positive relationships. They support individuals in meeting personal goals, engage in respectful communication, encourage socializing, and facilitate community connections. Specific tasks include providing personal care, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), administering medication, teaching/developing skills, supporting person-centered advocacy, assisting with communication and dispute resolution, facilitating ethical decision-making, planning and preparing meals, and transporting/escorting individuals. The role requires completing and maintaining all necessary trainings, reviewing communication logs, and entering data into an electronic health record. Accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork and documentation is essential. The position maintains a therapeutic environment using methods like Personal Outcome Measures, Person Centered Thinking, Informed Decision Making, and Trauma-Informed Approaches. The DSP-RBT serves as a member of a team, providing feedback, communicating programmatic needs, and maintaining a solution-oriented approach. Consultation with program leadership, clinical staff, and other direct support staff is expected, along with active participation in team meetings. Foundational teaching skills and progressive teaching methods are utilized. Compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and regulatory agency requirements, including HIPAA, is mandatory. The role requires completing and maintaining Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) requirements for certification/license (RBT or LPT) and other required recertifications and trainings. The DSP-RBT demonstrates and models all skills of a DSP/RBT with a person-centered and trauma-informed approach. Under supervision, the role participates in treatment plan development, develops understanding of specialized clinical knowledge, implements Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), collects and summarizes data on behavior, observes and reports changes in behavior, and communicates with authorized representatives regarding individual progress. The DSP-RBT serves as a back-up Lead Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/Lead Licensed Psych Tech (LPT) on an as-needed basis, performing lead duties as assigned. Performs all other duties as assigned.
