About The Position

Works under direct supervision of program management to provide functional skills training and personal care to disabled customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities (preferred)
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor
  • Knowledge and ability to work with basic mathematical concepts
  • Working knowledge of personal computers
  • Valid CDL and clean driving record
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service
  • Must work in an ethical and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include responding well to supervision
  • Able to work collaboratively
  • Able to work independently
  • Demonstrate respect and sensitivity to diversity
  • General knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities
  • Knowledge of individual/group instruction techniques
  • Knowledge of behavioral and medical knowledge associated with given disabilities such as seizure activity
  • Knowledge of correct lifting, positioning and transferring techniques
  • Knowledge of behavior modification techniques
  • Knowledge of documentation procedures
  • Ability to remain calm in high stress situations
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR certificates
  • Able to meet California Community Care Licensing personnel standards
  • Stand, stretch, twist and reach with hands and arms for prolonged periods of time
  • Lift 50 lbs or more
  • Use hands to finger, to handle or to feel

  • Preference given to persons who have experience working in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities
  • Working knowledge of personal computers (Highly desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Provides group and one-to-one instruction daily
  • Provide direct personal care (including bathroom duties) as needed
  • Assist in application of behavioral management techniques as specified in instructional plans
  • Record data daily regarding customer's progress towards meeting ISP objectives
  • Maintain classroom equipment
  • Provide general clean-up for facility
  • Assist with and meet Community Care Licensing regulations (Title 17 & 22)
  • Develop and maintain good rapport with customers, staff, and stakeholders
  • Provide customer transportation before, during and after program
  • Provide input to supervisor(s) regarding the development of individualized service plan objectives
  • Participate in customer meetings as needed
  • Attend required agency meetings and training as requested by Program Manager or designee
  • Perform other duties as assigned
