About The Position

This role involves learning, performing, and rotating between the positions of packer, scaler, styler, and grader to maintain line speeds on various products at the designated rate. The position requires working on a moving conveyor belt using both hands to spread or style product, perform packing and weighing, pull bones from product, and inspect and grade product, removing any that do not meet standards. Teamwork and participation in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies are essential. The role also requires familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN principles, with a responsibility to understand the impact of individual actions and communicate concerns or improvement ideas. The position may require performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Ability to make good decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
Must be able to move, push or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, stand for entire shift.
Must be able to work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for entire shift.
Must be able to perform repetitive motion.
May include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant.
Wear standard waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, and slip-resistant footwear.

Preference for poultry or food processing organization experience.

Responsibilities

Learn, perform, and rotate between the positions of packer, scaler, styler, and grader.
Maintain line speeds on any given product at the designated rate for that product.
Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
Spread or style product by hand on the belt.
Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
Pull bones from product.
Inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies.
Attend appropriate team meetings.
Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness and work with the team to resolve issues.
Be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
