About The Position

Overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects, including preparation, interpretation and presentation of estimates. This role involves leading one or more estimate/budget/pursuit activities, mentoring estimating staff, and supporting others on estimating pursuits. The Drywall Estimator will be responsible for preparing customized subcontractor bidder lists, maintaining strong relationships with trade partners, and assisting jobsite staff with estimating support. Key tasks include preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing, conceptual estimates, subcontractor bid lists, and leading bid day compilation. The role also requires reviewing plans and specifications, generating high-level VE/VM logs, managing bid schedules, building consensus on applied fee strategy, and reviewing subcontractor prequalification. Additionally, the estimator will draft and review General Conditions and General Requirements, generate scope sheets, conduct GO/NO GO meetings for self-perform trades, and support estimating staff and post-bid buyouts as applicable.

Requirements

  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years estimating or related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications, drawings, and BIM Models.
  • Ability to make accurate judgements and calculate associated risks.
  • Ability to use all estimating software such Excel, Bluebeam, Revit, Destini, or other programs to complete daily duties.
  • Working knowledge of current construction costs and principles.

Responsibilities

  • Leads one or more estimate/budget/pursuit activities and supports others on estimating pursuits.
  • Mentors one or more estimating staff.
  • Quickly and accurately diagnoses errors, scope, and exclusions in subcontractor estimates.
  • Reviews, prepares, and reviews others’ quantity take-offs.
  • Trains and develops Intern and Interim Project Engineers.
  • Spearheads and maintains historical costs.
  • Prepares customized subcontracting bidders list(s) to the correct type of job.
  • Maintains great relationships with trade partners.
  • Assists jobsite staff with estimating support.
  • Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing.
  • Prepares conceptual estimates.
  • Prepares subcontractors bid list.
  • Leads and/or participates in bid day compilation.
  • Reviews plans and specifications.
  • Generates high level VE/VM log with accuracy.
  • Follows bid schedule and can realign deliverable dates with minimal impact, through the use and management of the Estimate Checklist.
  • Builds consensus on applied fee strategy.
  • Reviews Subcontractor prequalification on prospective trade partners.
  • Drafts the first pass at General Conditions and General Requirements.
  • Sets-up and reviews General Conditions and General Requirements with the Operations team.
  • Generates scope sheets for all CSI divisions.
  • Sets up and conducts GO / NO GO for Swinerton self-perform trades.
  • Supports and trains estimating staff (as applicable).
  • Supports post-bid buyouts (as applicable).
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned.
