About The Position

Oversees all shift dry processing operation. This position reports to the Production Manager. This person is responsible for working daily with the Production Manager and Procurement (Planning) Department to ensure the daily production schedule is mapped out and completed in a timely manner. Provides leadership, planning and allocates resources to help create a high-performance team, resulting in improving safety and productivity performance, sanitation, product quality, and cost savings. The processing lead will be required to ensure the following, but not limited to:

Requirements

  • Familiar MS office software / able to learn and navigate new software programs.
  • Understanding of shipping and receiving paperwork, software and tracking methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure proper communication with Management.
  • Good attention to detail: Customer orders
  • High School Diploma and/or Equivalence

Responsibilities

  • Provides planning and process direction for all dry manufacturing: drying, milling, seed cleaning, oil pressing, and packaging.
  • Works with Purchasing / Planning Director to schedule raw product and set processing schedule.
  • Ensures processing schedule is carried out in an efficient and safe manner on each shift to achieve through-put rates.
  • Assist Production Manager in mentoring staff members to build a strong team.
  • Works with operators to ensure processing records are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Works with Production Manager to oversee the implementation of training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining of general staff to help support company operational objectives.
  • Works independently with other department Leads, Managers, Supervisors to achieve company missions, goals, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to fully train staff on all production processes of a variety of products.
  • Train / self-study to have full comprehension and a working command of the company's ERP system covering dry production / scheduling.
  • Proficient and competent in operating fast-paced / dry operation and ability to maintain on-time production and have ability to improvise when necessary to still meet production objectives.
  • Has strong familiarity with: Dryers, mills, SWECO sifters, oil press, packaging and related equipment.
  • Familiar with preventive maintenance, HACCP, CCP, and GMP guidelines.
  • Strong ability to trouble shoot production breakdowns.
  • Can perform quality & sanitation inspections of equipment.
  • Have ability to perform independent disciplinary investigations and complete disciplinary actions, when appropriate include HR department with employee disputes and / or concerns.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in PC use and related programs- Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Can effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Ability to conduct employee probationary and yearly evaluations.
  • Have a strong understanding of micro testing procedures and how that relates to dry processing.
  • Ability to work with the Quality Manager, Lead, and lab personnel to ensure the production of juice is following all HACCP plans, CCP's and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment sanitation procedures and SSOP's as it relates to FruitSmart standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to swab equipment in accordance with Quality procedures.
  • Assist in setting quality standards and ensure production is maintained at such standards by following FSP and/or HACCP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
