About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing recipes and operating dry ingredient production machinery in accordance with operational manuals and quality criteria, as well as backing up the Meat Preparation Operator. The role involves producing the required quantity of batched recipes within established specifications and tolerances according to the production plan. Responsibilities include inspecting dry ingredient materials and other raw materials, maintaining logs and records of units produced, performing pre-operational equipment checks and preventative maintenance, and ensuring quality and sanitation functions are met per the Quality Program and Master Sanitation Schedule. The operator will also interface with the plant ERP system for inventory control and lot traceability, and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Specific tasks include operating the entire dry ingredient line, backing up the Meat Preparation Operator, operating all equipment associated with the dry ingredient process (addition, mixing, emulsification, chub filling), finalizing paperwork, utilizing the ERP system for material and product movement, and supporting other lines and process functions as necessary. The role also requires operating a forklift as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow proper food safety, quality, and workplace safety procedures and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and effectively maintain working relationships in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Forklift Certification and experience or willing to obtain.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Mechanically inclined, drive yourself to continually grow and develop your role.
  • Ability to adapt and accommodate change.

Nice To Haves

  • (2+) years working experience in a manufacturing/production facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produces the required quantity of batched recipes within established specifications and tolerances and according to production plan.
  • Inspects dry ingredient materials and other raw materials, as well as in process materials as necessary ensuring compliance with function, quality, and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected/discarded materials.
  • Perform pre-operational equipment, preventative maintenance tasks, and process inspections.
  • Perform quality and sanitation functions per Quality Program and Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Report maintenance and quality opportunities with shift supervisors and/or managers.
  • Interface with plant ERP system to assure inventory control, lot traceability, and tracking.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, orderly work area.
  • Responsible for the operations, efficiency, and quality of entire dry ingredient line.
  • Back up to Meat Preparation Operator.
  • Operate all equipment associated with dry ingredient process, which includes but not limited to, dry ingredient addition, mixing, emulsification, and chub filling.
  • Finalize any paperwork during shift in an accurate, clear, and concise manner.
  • Utilize ERP System for moving in-process materials and products into and out of inventory.
  • Follow all quality guidelines, Master Sanitation Schedules, and maintain a food-safe, sanitary environment.
  • Support other lines, as necessary.
  • Operate forklift as necessary.
  • Support other process functions as necessary.
  • Execute the North Freeze Dry Vision, Mission, and Values (VMV’s) at all times.
  • Promote a positive, proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles, as necessary.
  • Available for overtime on a scheduled or call-in/call-back basis, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
