About The Position

The Dry End Manager oversees all operations related to the Planer, Shipping, and Boiler-Kiln departments ensuring the efficient processing of raw materials while maintaining safety, quality, production standards and financial goals. They lead a team of operators and technicians while implementing best practices to optimize workflow. This role involves collaborating with other departments to meet production targets and improve overall operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing machinery and safety protocols.
  • Leadership: Strong managerial skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve a common goal.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges creatively and effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: The ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Examples include time management, multitasking, and project management.
  • Must be willing to work nights or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable motor vehicle history for business travel in company vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous Planer experience.
  • Experience with, or certified through, lumber grading agency.
  • General understanding of OSHA requirements, LOTO procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with QC/QA programs and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of the dry end operations, providing leadership and guidance to team members.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure targets are met while maintaining IFG quality and safety standards.
  • Proactive leadership that fosters teamwork and enhances IFG culture and standards.
  • Train, mentor, evaluate performance and counsel team members promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments, including Green End, Maintenance and Sales to coordinate efforts and streamline operations.
  • Ability to evaluate and calculate ROI opportunities for departmental improvement.
  • Work closely with other managers and supervisors to identify repair, improvement opportunities, and solutions.
  • Work closely with sales to track production tallies and sales needs.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager to build and manage the department budget.
  • Implement and uphold quality assurance processes to ensure product standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct uptime analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clean department and plant site.
  • Maintain acceptable production levels.
