About The Position

Tessera is seeking a detail-oriented Dry Dock Inspector to conduct regular inspections, identify material condition, maintenance and repair needs, and ensuring safety regulations and industry standards for the facilities and equipment that comprises the graving dock and supporting systems in the contract. Productivity, workplace safety, customer satisfaction, and the team’s success are dependent on the leadership team position’s efforts. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Facilities and Graving Docks, or closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5-8 Years of experience in Marine Maintenance or closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of graving dock systems (Dewatering equipment, gates, valves, tunnels, pumps, and structural components.) and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of Unified Facility Criteria requirements, MIL Standards, and NAVFAC P-Documents associated with Graving Docks and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
  • No employee or representative of the Contractor will be admitted to the site of work unless satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship is furnished.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems associated with the to the Dry Dock and equipment and to identify maintenance needs and possible safety hazards.
  • Evaluate the condition of facilities and equipment and maintain accurate records of findings and recommended repairs.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team members to develop and prioritize actionable maintenance and repair plans in accordance with UFC, MIL-STD, and OEM specifications.
  • Assist in the development of preventive maintenance schedules and programs to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies regarding health and safety standards.
  • Participate in recertification inspections and audits for the Dry Dock and supported systems.
  • Ensure Dry Dock critical spare parts inventories are maintained per contract requirements.
  • Provide detailed reports on inspection findings, outlining issues identified, corrective actions, and timeline for resolution.
  • Manage and track discrepancies and maintenance requests through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve maintenance activities.
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff on inspection techniques and safety protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to minimize operational disruptions and ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Use of handheld tablets and personal devices is required.
