About The Position

The Dry Barge Technician is responsible for dry cargo cleaning of barges. The position primarily works in Lemont, Illinois, and involves travel to multiple locations. The technician performs barge-cleaning work, operates heavy equipment safely, follows applicable regulations and safety policies, and assists with other shipyard work as needed. The role carries out the Business Philosophy, Code of Conduct, and mission of Illinois Marine Towing and Canal Barge Company.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong understanding and application of workplace safety practices.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or scaffolding and push and pull approximately 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb, twist, bend, squat, and kneel.
• Ability to work outdoors in the elements in all seasons.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of barge cleaning, including preparing and checking equipment, entering and exiting barges, and using cleaning equipment.
• Safely operate heavy equipment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other shipyard jobs as needed to help meet business demands.
• Comply with applicable regulatory requirements, safety rules, and policies.
• Perform other duties as required and directed by management.
• Carry out the Business Philosophy, Code of Conduct, and mission of Illinois Marine Towing and Canal Barge Company.
