About The Position

As an H-E-B Store Department Lead, you'll lead a well-stocked, well-maintained department, while providing superior customer service. You'll also perform supervisory responsibilities, such as scheduling work, and training / developing Partners. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Store Lead Operations / Training: May serve as backup to Department Manager and typically works opposite shift to Manager May help prepare department work schedules Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws Assists with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product Trains Partners; directs work; addresses complaints; resolves issues; builds / follows up on production plans and their execution Assists in all technical areas, as needed Performs Representative / Specialist duties frequently Customer Service / Sales: Provides / coaches on superior customer service Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections Uses suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge and experience to meet customer needs and build department sales Merchandises products effectively Food Safety: Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality Complies with department / Store operating procedures Cleans / sanitizes sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment Additional Department-Specific Responsibilities / Pre-requisites: BEAUTY: Applies advanced knowledge of current trends in beauty for hair care, skin care, and makeup The responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Requirements

  • 6+ months of related experience and / or training, or
  • Required Combination of equivalent education / training
  • Expert knowledge of department production stations, including quality standards, set-up, operation, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment - Required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions, production planners, procedure manuals) - Required
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence - Required
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Partners - Required
  • Ability to apply common sense / understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form - Required
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations - Required
  • Communication and interpersonal skills - Required
  • Associate’s Degree (AA), or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or 6+ months of related experience and / or training, or combination of equivalent education / training - Required
  • Completion of Company Orientation - Required
  • Food safety and sanitation training - Required
  • eCommerce Online Ordering training - Required
  • Demonstrate the ability to lift 15 lbs, and manage in excess of 15 lbs
