About The Position

The Judicial Branch is seeking a Drug Technician responsible for arranging, conducting, and maintaining documentation for drug screenings. This role involves collecting, disposing of, and maintaining records of urine specimens, conducting drug screenings, managing the inventory of testing supplies and equipment, testifying in court, reporting and documenting testing results, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and providing training on documentation. This position is specifically for male candidates due to the nature of the duties. The Judicial Branch does not sponsor STEM or non-immigrant work visas for this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (for Drug Technician).
  • Associate’s degree in criminal justice, medical/laboratory, or a related area OR One year of experience as a drug technician or related position (for Substance Use Monitor).
  • All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Knowledge of drug screening and chemical testing methodology.
  • Knowledge of safe work methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping principles.
  • Knowledge of basic inventory management principles.
  • Knowledge of computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in performing drug screening.
  • Skill in collecting applicable samples.
  • Skill in maintaining specimen records.
  • Skill in monitoring inventory and supply levels.
  • Skill in maintaining operational records.
  • Skill in using a computer and related software applications.
  • Skill in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.

Responsibilities

  • Arranging, conducting, and maintaining documentation for drug screenings.
  • Collecting, disposing of, and maintaining records of urine specimens.
  • Conducting drug screenings.
  • Maintaining the inventory of testing supplies and equipment.
  • Testifying in court.
  • Reporting and documenting testing results.
  • Ensuring documentation procedures are done in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Providing training on testing result documentation.
  • Greeting clients, collecting testing forms and accompanying them to the drug testing area.
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned by department needs.
