About The Position

This position is responsible for the proper and secure handling, storage, and disposal of drug and opioid evidence. The technician will maintain accurate records, process evidence for destruction, and assist with inventory management. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict chain-of-custody protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in evidence handling, records management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of chain-of-custody principles and evidence handling procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including database management.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and security.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Experience working with law enforcement agencies.
  • Certification in evidence management.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and store drug and opioid evidence according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all evidence handled.
  • Process evidence for destruction, including preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with disposal services.
  • Conduct regular inventory of evidence to ensure accuracy and security.
  • Assist law enforcement personnel with evidence-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and departmental regulations regarding evidence management.
  • Operate specialized equipment for evidence processing and destruction.
