About The Position

Drop-In Volunteers are essential to the successful functioning of the Youth Centre and play a key role in ensuring youth have reliable access to food, hygiene products, and support. We are seeking volunteers who can commit to a consistent schedule, as regular attendance helps maintain continuity of service and creates a welcoming, dependable environment for youth participants.

Requirements

Identifies at 2SLGBTQIA+.
Able to work effectively as part of a team.
Able to lift and pack grocery bags.
Commitment to social justice, anti-racism, anti-oppression, Housing First principles, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check clearance.
Ability to commit to a consistent volunteer schedule and communicate in advance regarding any absences or scheduling changes.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of and/or experience in the social services, youth services or community support sector.
Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) training.
De-escalation training

Responsibilities

Fulfill grocery orders by assembling and distributing customized bags of groceries and hygiene products for youth participants.
Follow organizational systems for grocery and hygiene product distribution, keeping track of completed and outstanding orders.
Distribute grocery and hygiene bags to youth accessing the Drop-In.
Maintain the organization of the pantry.
Communicate any irregular requests, concerns, or questions outside of the scope of your role to a Youth Program Worker.
Keep Youth Program Workers informed of any noteworthy situations, participant needs, concerns, or incidents that arise in the Drop-In.
