About The Position

The Sheridan County YMCA is looking for caring individuals to join our Childcare team and help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and thrive while their parents enjoy the YMCA. At the Y, we're more than a gym—we're a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening our community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Every interaction is an opportunity to help children build confidence, make friends, and have fun.

Requirements

• Is at least 16 years old.
• Enjoys working with children of various ages.
• Is dependable, enthusiastic, and compassionate.
• Communicates well with children, parents, and coworkers.
• Can stay calm, solve problems, and adapt to changing situations.

Nice To Haves

• Has previous childcare experience

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities.
• Build positive relationships with children and their families.
• Encourage positive behavior using patience and effective communication.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and accurate program records.
• Follow YMCA safety policies and state childcare licensing requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and YMCA events.
