About The Position

A Driving Instructor at Capabilities works one-on-one with individuals age 16 and older, with and without disabilities, to help them learn the skills needed to obtain a learner’s permit and/or driver’s license. The instructor teaches traffic laws, road signs, responsibility, and safety while building students’ confidence as they drive on the road. When students are ready to test, the instructor accompanies them to the testing site to provide support and celebrate their achievements.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or above.
• Ability to type 25 words per minute and navigate a company-issued laptop.
• Clean driving record and ability to teach people to drive in company vehicles.
• Ability to pass a background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Teach individuals age 16 and older to prepare for a learner’s permit and/or driver’s license.
• Teach traffic laws, signs, responsibility, and safety.
• Build students’ confidence while they drive on the road.
• Accompany students to the testing site when they are ready to test and support them.
