About The Position

Mary Wade’s Adult Day Center is seeking a part-time Driver to work part-time, 20 hours per week. Our Drivers are responsible for transportation for all levels of care; including but not limited to Adult Day Center, medical transportation, Residential Care Home, Assisted Living Community and Skilled Nursing Unit. Schedule: 20 hours per week or more based on transportation requests. Hourly Rate: $ 17.50 Our Skilled Nursing Unit consists of 94 bed long-term care, short-term rehabilitation. We have an Adult Day Center and Residential Care Home. Chatham Place is the Assisted Living / Memory Care Community that is part of Mary Wade. The community includes 84 units, a combination of one bedroom and studio apartments. 20 units are Memory Care and the rest are traditional Assisted Living. Requirements

• Attends staff meetings and participates in safety and other operation training as assigned.
• Uses safety apparatus such as seat belts.
• Reports any unsafe conditions or accidents and files appropriate accurate reports.
• Obeys rules of the road.
• Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a healthcare setting.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must possess knowledge of street locations in the New Haven area.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class C or B with a Passenger "P" endorsement or “F” endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Drives set routes or individual door-to-door pickups according to daily schedule and rides assigned by supervisor.
• Assists clients in exiting and entering the van at pickups and destinations.
• Operate the wheelchair lift and unload residents/clients in wheelchairs via the lift.
• Maintains van interior and windows in clean condition at all times.
• Drives vehicles to and from emissions and other required vehicle inspections as assigned.
• Assists in preventive maintenance care of vans including regularly checking and maintaining all fluid levels and tire pressure, and report all maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the Medivan Program policies and procedures.
• Maintain daily driving logs, mileage records and other records as required.
• Assists in Program Assistant activities when needed
