Read more at www.dsv.com Location: USA - Fort Wayne, 5801 Adams Center Rd Division: Solutions Job Posting Title: Driver (A Shift M-F 6am-2:30pm) - 117091 Time Type: Full Time POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the shift supervisor and/or the shift team leader, the CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor trailer vehicle for the loading and delivery of products to/from the plant to the warehouse in a manner consistent with all safety, quality, and operational work instructions.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have tractor trailer experience.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Satisfactory completion of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for tractor trailer operation.
  • Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate.
  • Basic computer skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Basic math
  • Must be able to work as assigned outside and in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or within a group.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Must be able to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safely operating the shuttle vehicle on each trip. Must follow all applicable laws and company policy.
  • Responsible for accounting for records involving trailer numbers and position of vehicles.
  • Must function and interact on a daily basis with warehouse supervisors and comply with warehouse safety requirements.
  • Must communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with operations, and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must maneuver trucks into loading and unloading position, following signal from loading crew as needed. Also place safety wheel chocks in front of wheel/tire to prevent the trailer from rolling. If pup trailer movement is involved; extra care must be taken on the placement of the trailer jack stand (when at dock, jack stand must be on the ground and in a locked position). If there is not a jack stand installed on the trailer the customer must be notified.
  • Proper use of Airline/Electrical hookup/and Backing procedure is a must.
  • Follow all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard

  • The expected base pay range is $28.50 – $30.50 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
