About The Position

Driver Emporia Fleet is seeking a motivated and energetic Driver with a great work ethic. This role involves securing loads, loading and unloading materials, taking safety precautions, following DOT regulations, and completing required paperwork. The driver will be responsible for delivering product as dispatched, assisting customers with unloading, and performing minor repairs to the tractor and trailer. Some runs may require overnight stays and up to 11 hours of driving per day. The physical demands of the job are considered heavy, involving lifting materials up to 100 lbs. The driver will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned tractor and adhering to all company conduct, safety rules, and DOT regulations.

Requirements

  • Pass a drug test and background check
  • CDL Class A and an above average DOT safety record

Responsibilities

  • Securing loads with straps and tarps
  • Loading and unloading material at each stop
  • Taking safety precautions when weather is expected
  • Following DOT rules for weighing truck, completing DVIR for pre and post trips, and driving
  • Inspecting, operating and testing machinery and equipment
  • Wearing appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment)
  • Ensuring that all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Obtaining the proper paperwork and trailer with the load they are assigned
  • Comparing load to paperwork to ensure that the load is not short or long product before departing facility
  • Cooperating with customers and handling required delivery paperwork
  • Following process procedures in loading and unloading steel and supplies from the trailer
  • Delivering product as dispatched
  • Assisting customer with unloading the product, as needed
  • Performing minor repairs to the tractor and trailer such as changing light bulbs, wiper blades etc.
  • Maintaining the inside and outside cleanliness of the assigned tractor
  • Following all company conduct and safety rules and DOT regulations
