About The Position

The Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to various locations, including medical appointments and recreational outings. This role requires a professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to assist residents with their mobility needs. The Driver will ensure the safety and well-being of residents during transport, maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety, and adhere to all company protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents safely, observing all safe driving standards.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, physician offices, and the community.
  • Inform residents, team members, and medical providers of pick-up and drop-off times.
  • Follow schedule with minimal changes and cancellations.
  • Assist residents to minimize risk of injury or accident during loading and unloading.
  • Understand residents' medical needs and approach them appropriately.
  • Schedule and execute resident outings, including sight-seeing, destination locations, and medical trips.
  • Carry belongings, open doors, and caution residents on steps and other objects.
  • Open/close and load/unload walkers and wheelchairs.
  • Assist residents in and out of the vehicle using the wheelchair lift and/or stairs.
  • Ensure residents are safely seated with seat belts secured.
  • Assist residents in wheelchairs during activities outside the community.
  • Account for the presence of all residents when leaving or returning to the community.
  • Call resident rooms for appointment/activity reminders as needed.
  • Fill the community motor vehicle with gasoline at pre-approved service stations.
  • Respond immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies.
  • Interact with residents in a friendly manner, providing meaningful attention.
  • Communicate concerns about resident's health to management.
  • Ensure vehicle license plates, inspection tags, and insurance cards are current and displayed properly.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all vehicles.
  • Check vehicles prior to transporting residents for safety and emergency equipment.
  • Keep a maintenance log on vehicles and ensure timely preventative maintenance.
  • Work in a safe manner and report unsafe actions to the Executive Director.
  • Comply with Safety Committee Standards.
  • Notify the Executive Director of workplace injuries and follow all procedures.
  • Foster teamwork with co-workers, show initiative, assist others, and have a positive impact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
