About The Position

The Quality Parenting Driver will provide and ensure reliable and safe transportation for children and/or parents to and from scheduled visits. Load and unload children safely - make sure all children are buckled in their seatbelts safely, as well as parents. Provides feedback to Supervisor and Visitation Program caseworker regarding any issues or concerns relating to parent and child transport. Some evening, weekend and holiday hours expected. May also require training in Visit Coaching Model.

Requirements

  • Valid CT Driver's License and clean driving record required.
  • Must be able to address and take control of difficult situations in the moment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children and families strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for children and parents, to and from the visits when needed.
  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most convenient and safe travel route.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Program Director, Assistant Program Director, Supervisor, Scheduler, and Visitation Program caseworkers on all cases when necessary.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the families and inclement weather.
  • Incorporate a wide range of coaching approaches when working with families: Use of Play, Modeling, Instruction and Rehearsal.
  • Participate in and contribute to Team Meetings when necessary.
  • Help maintain a clean and welcoming environment for families.
  • Directly report any safety concerns to appropriate chain of command.
  • Complete and submit monthly vehicle maintenance documentation.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance as needed and arrange for replacement vehicle (as needed).
  • Cordially interact with passengers.
  • Address difficult situations in the moment and report them to the Assistant Program Director, Supervisor, and Visitation Program caseworker.
  • Maintain general knowledge of and adherence to Agency policies and procedures as contained in the WCS Personal Handbook, WCS Procedure Manual, and department manual.
  • Gain a general understanding of agency treatment models such as CARE and TCI.
  • Function as positive role model to children, families and other staff.
  • Maintain an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic differences present among the service population and fellow staff members of WCS, ensuring that cultural needs are respected and supported through the delivery of services and the development and implementation of Agency programs and policies in a manner that is free from discrimination and bias relating to race, ethnicity, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, status as a victim of domestic violence or religious beliefs.
  • Other duties as directed by the Assistant Program Director or Program Director.
