Whether you're greeting participants each morning or ensuring they return home safely in the afternoon, you'll become an important part of their daily routine and a valued member of our Vocational Services team. Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid New Jersey driver's license with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
  • At least one year of consistent employment with a previous employer.
  • The ability to safely operate agency vehicles in varying driving conditions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent judgment, reliability, and the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to successfully complete all required background screenings, drug screenings, and agency pre-employment requirements.
  • Willingness to complete required Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) training and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is beneficial but not required—we provide the training you need to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate agency vehicles while transporting participants between their homes, vocational programs, and approved community destinations.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after scheduled routes to help maintain safety and reliability.
  • Keep assigned vehicles clean, organized, fueled, and maintained according to agency standards.
  • Accurately complete mileage reports, transportation logs, attendance records, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate route changes, maintenance concerns, scheduling updates, or incidents promptly to supervisory staff.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for every passenger during transportation.
  • Promote passenger safety by following defensive driving practices, motor vehicle regulations, and agency transportation procedures.
  • Serve as a professional representative of The Arc of Ocean County while interacting with participants, families, and community members.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate documentation and cooperating during inspections or audits.
  • Perform additional transportation-related responsibilities as assigned.
