The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is seeking a Driver who has a great attitude, solid work ethic, a good driving record, and looking to jumpstart their driving career. This position will be located at the Adult Correctional Facility located in Plymouth, MN and will be responsible for a variety of professional driving services within the Hennepin County area. Location and hours: This position is located at the Adult Correctional Facility at 1145 Shenandoah Lane North, Plymouth, Minnesota 55447. There is no public transportation to this facility. The work schedule is on call as needed with a higher need being Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with opportunities to provide coverage during weekday and evening hours as they become available. About the position type: This is a part-time, limited duration (temporary), non-benefit earning position lasting up to two years. This position is internally classified as a Driver. Click here to view the job classification specification. In this position, you will: Maintain and submit routine vehicle usage records. Maintain company vehicles by washing and cleaning the interior and exterior, and bringing vehicles in for scheduled servicing and emergency repairs. Load and unload vehicle when delivering food, goods, and other supplies to other facilities, departments, and agencies. Need to have: A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Nice to have: Experience with the operation and care of passenger or delivery vehicles. Experience working in a correctional setting. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to: Work a flexible schedule including weekends, days, evenings and on-call hours. Provide safe and secure transportation of residents to and from job sites. Communicate effectively in stressful circumstances. Manage problems and resolve conflicts using tact and discretion. Read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English; learn routes and read maps.
