About The Position

This is a full-time, temporary position expected to conclude in July 2026. The Driver will operate a 1-ton pickup truck, towing an 8-foot trailer, to collect buckets of dirt from technicians replacing water meters in neighborhoods. Once the trailer is full, the Driver will transport the dirt to a designated dump site, empty it, and return to the neighborhood. When not engaged in dirt collection, the Driver will assist with general labor, including digging for water meter replacement as needed. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required, but an excellent driving record and experience pulling a trailer are essential.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in driving a truck while pulling a trailer.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Ability to load & unload freight safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or hand tools.
  • Knowledge of route driving best practices and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail for vehicle inspections and documentation accuracy.
  • Physical ability to handle cargo loads and perform routine vehicle checks.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time.
  • Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Stable Multi-year Work History.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Dependability.
  • Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing).
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience due to insurance requirements.
  • Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company 1 ton pick up truck while pulling a trailer.
  • Load and unload freight accurately, ensuring proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
  • Drive assigned routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers as needed.
  • Help with general labor and digging for water meter replacement as needed.
