This role involves driving a company vehicle to transport and deliver company products to customers and other company branches, with required assistance in unloading the truck.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • 1 year of general warehouse experience or HD parts experience
  • Ability to lift 50lbs safely.
  • Communication skills: Conveying information to others in an effective manner. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Time Management skills: Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
  • Reading Comprehension skills: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Judgment & Decision Making skills: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions in order to choose the appropriate one.
  • Coordination skills: Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and organize customer orders for delivery by part number and quantity as directed by picking ticket in priority assigned.
  • Load materials into vehicle and ensure that the load is secure, installing bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Follow company delivery routes to ensure maximum efficiency of delivery run.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Check vehicles before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Assist in unloading the truck.
