About The Position

UNDP's Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) is seeking to recruit drivers to undertake professional driving functions for UNDP personnel and missions in Jerusalem and the West Bank. This role is crucial for ensuring reliable and safe transportation services, supporting the organization's development assistance efforts in the region. The drivers will be responsible for transporting staff, officials, and visitors, as well as handling mail, documents, and logistical support for various activities.

Requirements

  • Secondary Education is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a driver; safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
  • Ability to drive and travel within Jerusalem and the West Bank.
  • Computer literacy required including use of emails.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Fluency in Arabic language is required.
  • Working knowledge in the English language is required.
  • Valid Bus Driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with the UN and/or other international organizations is an asset.
  • Experience in basic use of web-based management and electronic log, file and or scheduling systems.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Working knowledge in the Hebrew language would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Driving office vehicles responsibly and safely to transport UNDP/PAPP staff, high-ranking officials, visitors, and for the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items.
  • Providing airport/bridge pick-up and drop-off services for official personnel and visitors, including assistance with visa and customs formalities, when required.
  • Maintaining accurate daily vehicle logs.
  • Contributing to the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans.
  • Preparing and submitting reports as requested by the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Performing or arranging necessary minor repairs and timely scheduling of major repairs.
  • Conducting regular vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, tire checks, brake inspections, car washing, etc.
  • Promptly informing the supervisor of any required repairs.
  • Ensuring the vehicle has updated and accessible documents such as insurance papers, vehicle logs, office directory, and city/country maps.
  • Keeping vehicle tools, necessary spare parts, and required MOSS items (e.g., first aid kit, flag) readily available in the assigned vehicle.
  • Taking all immediate actions specified by rules and regulations in case of accidents.
  • Delivering and collecting official documents from ministries, banks, and partner organizations as per UNDP/PAPP activities and work plans.
  • Assisting in the organization of workshops and seminars, including collecting documents, delivering equipment, and ensuring timely setup at venues.
  • Supporting event setup and closure, such as raising pop-up banners and managing registration desks.
  • Performing registry-related tasks, including bulk photocopying for meetings.
  • Assisting with the arrangement and setup of office equipment, furniture, and supplies when required.
