About The Position

Taylor Community is seeking a reliable and compassionate individual for a full-time driver position. You will be responsible for safely transporting residents to medical appointments, social activities, shopping trips, and other essential errands. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys driving, is flexible with their schedule, and has a passion for supporting the elderly. You will operate Taylor Community vehicles both on-campus and in the surrounding areas, with occasional day trips to locations such as Vermont, Maine, and Boston.

Requirements

  • Must be 25 years old or older.
  • A clean driving record, verified by the New Hampshire DMV, is required.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to drive a 15-passenger bus or similar vehicle.
  • Must be able to assist residents with mobility challenges and perform light lifting when necessary.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Experience working with elderly individuals is preferred.
  • A compassionate, patient approach to working with seniors is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage professionally with residents, their families, and coworkers.
  • Reliability and punctuality are crucial, as you will be transporting vulnerable individuals.
  • All candidates must go through a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport residents to their scheduled appointments and activities, ensuring a comfortable and reliable experience.
  • Drive Taylor Community vehicles, including 15-passenger buses, to various destinations within the community and beyond.
  • Assist residents as they enter and exit vehicles, providing support with mobility aids such as walkers and wheelchairs.
  • Offer escort services, accompanying residents into medical offices or social events when necessary.
  • Help residents with personal items, like groceries or medical equipment, ensuring that their belongings are safely transported to their destination.
  • Maintain a timely schedule, ensuring that all trips are completed on time, adjusting as needed based on changes in residents' needs or delays.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, including performing basic checks to ensure it's in good working order and stocked with necessary supplies like first-aid kits and bottled water.
  • Follow safety protocols and be prepared to respond to medical situations in the event of an emergency.
  • Assist with other duties, such as running errands for the community or accommodating schedule changes.
