About The Position

Provides transportation services for customers and goods to and from destinations with sedans, vans, and trucks assigned by program daily manifest. Reviews manifests and makes changes to directions. Transporting customers to and from destinations; assures the use by all passengers of seat belts; and escorts customers with special mobility needs on and off ADA-compliant vehicles. Reports observed changes in customer eligibility or physical and mental health to an appropriate staff member. Reports immediately to appropriate organizations, such as 911, Adult Protective Services, or law enforcement, of dangerous or unsafe observations. Inspects vehicle, checking lights, tires, horn, emergency equipment, and exterior for damage. Reports equipment damage or failure. Fuels and cleans the vehicle. Uses technology and software programs to obtain information regarding daily schedules and program clients. Informs customers of other Aging Services opportunities and services. May transport clients who utilize wheelchairs using ADA-compliant vehicles. This is a temporary position, an "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy. Are not considered merit employees. Are "at will" employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing.

Requirements

  • Must pass required driver's training within two weeks of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire, in order to operate a County vehicle.
  • Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting this position.
  • Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
  • May be subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
