About The Position

Driver Warehouse Worker 2 works under the supervision of the Supply Technician 3 and consults with them on a regular basis. They will be accepting deliveries of supplies and equipment. Verify deliveries against invoices, report any damaged items, examine produce upon receipt for freshness, keep log for all UPS deliveries. Deliver food, office supplies, equipment etc., to ESP and conservation camps; ensure all trucks are loaded and secure; check load against shipping receipts to ensure all items are accounted for; have receiver re-inventory shipment and sign shipping receipt. They will be working/supervising directly with inmate workers monitoring their work performance for evaluations and reporting infraction of established rules and regulations pertaining to inmates. They will ensure that all Warehouse keys and tools are accounted for and lost keys or tool are reported immediately to Supply Tech 2; observe all safety practices at all times. This position works Monday – Friday, 7:00 am through 3:30 pm with weekends off.

Requirements

  • One year of commercial freight delivery experience which included responsibilities for loading freight and operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Working knowledge of the operating procedures and operating characteristics of tractor-trailer combination vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations including proper storage and stock rotation.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Skill in driving tractor-trailer combination vehicles for long distances and in a variety of driving conditions.
  • Skill in loading and securing freight.
  • Skill in performing required equipment maintenance and service.

Responsibilities

  • Accepting deliveries of supplies and equipment.
  • Verifying deliveries against invoices.
  • Reporting any damaged items.

  • Observing all safety practices at all times.
  • Receiving and storing freight consisting of items such as food, office furniture, and office, maintenance, janitorial, and other supplies for use by State agencies and commodity food recipients.
  • Palletizing freight.
  • Unloading shipments manually or using forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • Inspecting freight for damage.
  • Verifying quantity and description agree with the bill of lading.
  • Moving freight to a designated area of the warehouse for storage.
  • Preparing orders and loading the delivery vehicle in preparation for shipment to consignee in accordance with established delivery schedules.
  • Reviewing orders, pulling quantity and type of stock specified, packing or palletizing stock, moving filled orders to staging area, loading delivery vehicle in accordance with the order in which goods will be delivered.
  • Completing data entries into the computer system to track and account for inventory received or disbursed.
  • Maintaining overall inventory of warehouse and processing required receiving paperwork.
  • Operating various light, medium and heavy duty transporting vehicles to deliver orders and/or pick up materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Unloading orders, loading and securing items being picked up, and obtaining appropriate documentation to verify delivery or receipt of goods.
  • Ensuring transporting vehicles, forklifts and related equipment are maintained in proper working order through periodic visual inspection of the vehicle/equipment.
  • Reviewing maintenance records.
  • Performing routine service or reporting service and repair requirements.
  • Arranging for emergency repairs.
  • Monitoring warehouse stock layout and location through visual inspection to ensure easy access, proper rotation of stock, and best utilization of space.
  • Relocating stock as necessary.
  • Conducting periodic inventories of stock.
  • Functioning as a lead-worker for an inmate crew on a regular basis and documenting inmate performance through completion of periodic performance reports.
  • Implementing security procedures which include securing the work area from unauthorized inmates and accountability for assigned inmates, staff, tools, equipment, and equipment specifically assigned to and used by inmate crew members.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.
  • Operating tractor-trailer combination vehicles which may include pulling double trailers for regional and statewide delivery and pick up of food, furniture, supplies, equipment and vehicles.
  • Coupling and uncoupling tractor and trailer(s).
  • Inspecting equipment systems and components to ensure they are safe and in proper working condition.
  • Loading and securing cargo.
  • Operating combination vehicles in a variety of driving conditions to include adverse weather conditions, mountainous terrain, multi-lane freeways, narrow two-lane roads, residential areas, and heavy urban traffic.
