About The Position

This position is located at the Lovelock Correctional Center. The Driver Warehouse Worker 1 works under the supervision of the Supply Tech 2 and consults with them on a regular basis. The incumbent will be accepting deliveries of supplies and equipment; verify deliveries against invoices; report any damaged items; examine produce upon receipt for freshness; keep logs for all UPS deliveries; deliver food, office supplies, equipment etc., ensure all trucks are loaded and secure; check load against shipping receipts to ensure all items are accounted for; and have receiver confirm shipment and sign shipping receipt. The position will be working with and supervising inmate workers.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in warehouse operations which included responsibility for loading freight, operating forklifts and operating single commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds or more to deliver supplies and equipment
  • A Class B Commercial Driver License is required upon application
  • Ability to read warehouse orders, inventory reports and equipment operation and service manuals
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations
  • Ability to document the condition of freight and prepare inventory reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and staff from various agencies
  • Ability to lift, push and pull heavy objects frequently
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and other agency personnel
  • Ability to complete assignments within established deadlines
  • Ability to perform repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, and pace
  • Skill in driving light, medium and heavy duty transporting vehicles long distances and in a variety of driving conditions

Responsibilities

  • Accepting deliveries of supplies and equipment
  • Verifying deliveries against invoices
  • Reporting any damaged items

  • Loading transporting vehicles
  • Delivering and picking up supplies, materials, and equipment

  • Unloading shipments manually or using forklifts or pallet jacks
  • Inspecting freight for damage
  • Verifying quantity and description agree with the bill of lading
  • Moving freight to a designated area of the warehouse for storage
  • Preparing orders and loading the delivery vehicle
  • Reviewing orders, pulling stock, packing or palletizing stock
  • Moving filled orders to staging area
  • Loading delivery vehicle in accordance with delivery order
  • Completing data entries into computer system to track and account for inventory
  • Maintaining overall inventory of warehouse and processing required receiving paperwork
  • Operating various light, medium and heavy duty transporting vehicles to deliver orders and/or pick up materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Unloading orders, loading and securing items being picked up
  • Obtaining appropriate documentation to verify delivery or receipt of goods
  • Ensuring transporting vehicles, forklifts and related equipment are maintained in proper working order
  • Reviewing maintenance records
  • Performing routine service or reporting service and repair requirements
  • Arranging for emergency repairs
  • Monitoring warehouse stock layout and location
  • Relocating stock as necessary
  • Conducting periodic inventories of stock
  • Functioning as a lead-worker for an inmate crew on a regular basis
  • Documenting inmate performance through completion of periodic performance reports
  • Implementing security procedures which include securing the work area from unauthorized inmates and accountability for assigned inmates, staff, tools, equipment, and equipment specifically assigned to and used by inmate crew members
  • Performing related duties as assigned
  • Providing training, work assignment and work review to warehouse workers and inmates
