About The Position

Under general supervision, the Driver - Transit Vehicle Operator operates transit vehicles to deliver fixed-route, paratransit, on-demand, commuter, and special transportation services. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional transportation of passengers while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures. The Transit Vehicle Operator serves as a frontline representative of the City and is expected to maintain the highest standards of customer service, professionalism, safety, and reliability.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Must be 18 years or older.
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas Commercial Driver's License or higher with Passenger Endorsement.
Must successfully pass the CDL physical exam and maintain physical condition.
Possess a clean driving record.
No moving violations within the preceding three (3) years.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, customer service, conflict-resolution, and communication skills.
Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening.
Must successfully pass the DOT CDL physical exam and maintain a physical condition.
A motor vehicle record check will be required.

Responsibilities

Operates transit vehicles to deliver fixed-route, paratransit, on-demand, commuter, and special transportation services.
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
Maintains the highest standards of customer service, professionalism, safety, and reliability.
Assists passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility devices.
Performs vehicle inspections, safety checks, cleaning activities, and fueling procedures.
Completes all required Transit Operator training programs.
