We are currently seeking a Driver Trainer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor the Driver Trainer position is responsible for training all new drivers, ensuring safety, and investigating all incidents. Requirements

  • Class 1 BC driver’s license is an asset.
  • Clean abstract.
  • Experience with Trux.
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver onboarding and hands-on training for all new drivers, including in-field route training, equipment operation, and company procedures.
  • Spend regular time on routes with drivers to assess performance, provide real-time coaching, and reinforce safe and efficient work practices.
  • Evaluate driver performance during training and throughout employment, including completion of training sign-offs, 3-month reviews, and ongoing assessments as required.
  • Provide coaching and corrective feedback to drivers, and support performance management processes in collaboration with Operations Supervisors.
  • Lead and continuously improve the Driver Training Program, including maintaining and updating training materials and ensuring all training records are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Ensure all drivers are trained and operating in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Conduct incident investigations, including gathering information, completing reports, and identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Investigate refusals of unsafe work in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements, and support resolution in collaboration with Operations and Safety teams.
  • Perform field safety inspections and worksite assessments to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and follow up on safety-related issues, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Lead and support driver safety meetings, including preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, and documenting and tracking action items.
  • Track and follow up on operational and safety concerns raised by drivers, ensuring communication with the appropriate departments and timely resolution.
  • Review driver abstracts and support ongoing driver qualification and compliance requirements.
  • Support enforcement of company policies, including hours of work and safety standards, in collaboration with Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
