About The Position

The Driver Trainee position is a safety-oriented, entry-level role intended to provide practical, supervised driving experience necessary to fulfill commercial driving hour requirements before transitioning to independent operation. Trainees will be paired with an experienced Driver Trainer to gain over-the-road experience, reinforce safety procedures, and develop the operational skills essential for a safe, efficient, and successful solo driving career.

Requirements

• Must have good communication skills both verbally and written form
• Must be proficient with the use of PCs and Microsoft Office
• Must be 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Valid Class A- CDL drivers license

Responsibilities

• Build healthy business relationships and establish good communication with our retail customers
• Assist with delivery of Ben E. Keith Beverage products to customers and must be able and willing to take direction.
• Operate commercial vehicles under the direct supervision of a Driver Trainer.
• Complete 150 hours of supervised driving time with a certified trainer before being approved to operate independently.
• Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
• Adhere to all company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards.
• Learn and follow proper cargo handling and securement procedures.
• Maintain accurate driving logs and documentation as required.
• Support safe and on-time deliveries while gaining route familiarity.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, trainers, and customers.
• Participate actively in ongoing training and performance evaluations.
• Perform job duties in a variety of settings (grocery, convenience, bar, etc.) and under challenging weather conditions (such as rain or snow)
• Ensure company equipment is in safe, working condition; reports any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor
• Maintain and keep company vehicle clean at all times
• Attend meetings as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
