About The Position

This role involves assisting a driver in unloading products at customer locations, adhering to customer invoices, Preferred Work Methods, and company policies. The position requires a CDL Permit and offers a 3-month trial period as a Driver Helper with night dispatch, working 10-14 hours per shift for a weekly pay of $900. The program is designed to help you get paid to obtain your CDL and become a Sygma Delivery Driver.

Requirements

  • CDL Permit REQUIRED - MUST HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED
  • High school diploma/GED or the equivalent in work experience is necessary.
  • Must be able to read and write clearly.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
  • Must be able to read at a distance close to the eyes and at arm’s length, with or without correction.
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous food distribution and frozen food handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Unload product according to customer specifications and SYGMA delivery procedures at customer locations.
  • Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent, courteous service.
  • Learn route on current bid.
  • Assist in all aspects of route paperwork.
  • Work safely by following SYGMA’s Preferred Work Methods.
  • Attend CDL School when scheduled.
  • Assist the driver in the pre-trip and coupling of equipment to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.
  • Assist with ensuring tandems are properly and safely locked out to meet any applicable laws for weight requirements.
  • Provide assistance in routing with map reading and giving directions on route.
  • Help with situations involving low clearances, i.e., getting out of vehicle and directing driver under a low underpass to ensure proper clearance.
  • Assist with delivery set up at the customer location, including all three compartments of the trailer, and directing the driver to ensure proper set up is attained safely.
  • Assist driver in backing situations by getting out of the truck and watching for hazards, communicate using hand signals and or verbal communication.
