About The Position

The Driver, Student Nutrition Services, will perform skilled work in the operation of moderately complex vehicular equipment and machinery to include operation of box truck with lift gate. The Driver, Student Nutrition Services, will transport meals to school sites utilizing a route to meet delivery schedules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, vocational, or GED certificate.
  • Six (6) months of increasingly responsible experience in the operation of light vehicles.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Class E driver’s license and comply with HCPS Safe Driver Plan is required.
  • Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Writes simple correspondence.
  • Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Adds and subtracts two digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s.
  • Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
  • Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Eligibility for interview requires the successful passing of a written and/or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms and/or tools and their use.

  • Degree or formal training in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates single chassis transport/cargo vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Is responsible for a delivery route run safely, timely, and efficiently.
  • Loads and unloads equipment for meal delivery at school sites daily.
  • Is responsible to collect route paperwork to include signature.
  • Adapts and foresights to handle unexpected situations to include traffic, weather conditions, etc.
  • Is responsible to adhere to district’s policies for vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Is responsible for daily cleanliness of equipment.
  • Provides exemplary customer service.
  • Is responsible to pick up and deliver equipment from school sites as directed.
  • Adheres to principles and practices of safe use including but not limited to operation of equipment, tools, materials, and HCPS owned vehicles including maintenance of such equipment of tools.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
