About The Position

This position is responsible for the safe transportation of engine components, parts, and similar loads. Assists the engine builders during engine overhauls, perform vehicle inspections, and local pick-up and delivery. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

  • One or more years’ driving experience preferred, with verifiable over-the-road experience operating combination commercial vehicles
  • One or more years’ industrial engine rebuild skills, knowledge, or experience is preferred
  • High school or equivalent diploma preferred
  • Valid Driver’s license with Class A or B - CDL certification, DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)
  • Possess knowledge of and/or previous experience in driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and operating safely within high traffic or congested city zones and in small areas
  • Basic knowledge of industrial engine rebuild, transportation, and safe driving procedures
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Knowledge of forklift, scissor lift, and overhead crane operation
  • Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelines
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Quality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Operation and control skills - controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems
  • Ability to maintain a clean driver’s record and diligent attention to safety
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Responsibilities

  • Delivery and pick-up of engine components in a safe and timely, efficient, and courteous manner
  • Assist the shop service technicians with engine rebuilds and maintenance
  • Secure components and other equipment, by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking under the strict accordance and established procedures
  • Perform pre- and post- vehicle inspections; Inspects vehicles for defects and safe operating condition, before, during, and after delivery trips
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
  • Complete DOT required drivers daily log and trip sheets accurately and without misrepresentation
  • Obtain required signatures on pick-up and exchange forms
  • Assist other departments whenever required in an efficient manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
